SUMMARY


The CIS Environmental Health & Safety Engineer position is a leader and contributor to implementing and using Lean / CI activities in the facility.

This position is expected to use engineering principles and tools to identify areas for opportunity, support and contribute to the team to analyze data and implement improvements.

This position will help lead the team to drive down costs, control variation, and improve processes. Reporting to the CIS Manager, part of the team that will drive continuous improvement in the facility. In addition, this position will provide full-time environmental health and safety support to the operations of the factory. It will ensure that all practices comply with Federal, State, and CIT regulatory requirements.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Provide overall support and contribution to CIS problem-solving to the team.
  • Significant problem-solving involving changes in products, processes, and equipment leading to improvement to improve the business.
  • Assisting in the development of new processes including, standard work, Product Instructions, and Manufacturing Instructions
  • Collaborate with the maintenance department to address potential hazards and ensure equipment and facilities are in good working order.
  • Practice safe working techniques and re-enforce the safety policies, guidelines, and procedures as set out by the Company.
  • Provide daily guidance and direction in EHS programs at the employee/supervisor level to ensure a common and effective approach.
  • Ensure that contractor personnel working on the property comply with CIT policies and safety requirements.
  • Provide advice, assistance, and audit line management to ensure that effective EHS is implemented and working.
  • Monitor employee exposure to physical and chemical hazards
  • Understand and implement machine guarding where needed
  • Develop and maintain compliance with all applicable regulations established by the EPA, CERCLA, RCRA, DOT, TRRC, RWQCB, NEPA, and other applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Review and interpret new and proposed environmental laws and regulations, and guide management
  • Perform environmental compliance and due diligence audits to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain ISO 14001 compliance and implement improvements within the facility.
  • Identify and anticipate environmental, health, and safety concerns/hazards and implement solutions.
  • Perform and contribute to the Site Training Plans by conducting employee orientations; emergency response training; and coordination of modular training programs for the operation.
  • Assist with maintaining the Site Preparedness and Emergency Plans & Procedures.
  • Assist in evaluating new tools, equipment, and processes to aid in production efficiency and safety
  • Providing data and analysis to drive CAPEX decisions
  • Competency in tools such as 8D, PFMEA, DMEA, Root Cause Analysis, etc.
  • Participate in and lead Continuous Improvement events
  • Review accidents and incidents that occur in the area of responsibility and conduct field audits, reporting, and managing the corrective actions.
  • Maintain filing systems regarding worker training and safety.
  • Maintain working relationships with Regulatory Agencies and chair or co-chair and lead the Safety Committee for the Operation.
  • Ensure buildings or products comply with health and safety regulations, paying careful attention after conducting an inspection that requires changes.

SALARY INFORMATION


According to the laws of several states, the salary range for this position falls between $75,000 and $ 85,000 per year.

However, it is important to note that this salary information is merely a general guideline.

When extending an offer, Carlisle Interconnect Technologies considers various factors such as the position's responsibilities, scope of work, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal pay equity, and market considerations.


QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • 3+ years of experience in engineering and continuous improvement and an understanding of electromechanical assembly and test; wire harness manufacturing, RF cable, RF connector build and test familiarity a plus
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and change management skills in complex organizations
  • Dynamic communication skills with the ability to work at all levels of an organization including briefings to senior leaders
  • Experience in Environmental Health and Safety role
  • Has or is willing to obtain EH&S Certification or Training
  • Familiar with OSHA regulations and protocols.
  • Excellent computer skills, MS Office.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree required in Engineering or other STEM background
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Six Sigma Green Belt with award certification through ASQ or an equivalent body is a plus. Progress toward Green Belt certification may be considered with an appropriate level of expertise and experience
