This is a temporary appointment. Appointment to this position will not convey permanent status and will be for a period not-to-exceed 1039 hours in a service year.

Duties
  • Archeological Technicians assist other professional cultural resource specialists with on-the-ground field studies to identify cultural, historical, and/or paleontological resources.
  • Work may involve designing and conducting inventories, and/or compiling and interpreting collected data. as well as compiling and interpreting collected data and researching reference materials.
  • Archeological Technicians may also research reference materials, write reports on inventory activities, or prepare documents for determinations of eligibility to the National Register of Historic Places.
  • Research files and records to obtain information about sites scheduled for cultural inventories. Reviews reference material to aid in identification of artifacts recovered during inventories.
  • Plans and carries out non-complex cultural resource field inventories. Determines inventory methods to use, identifies area to be inventoried, schedules inventory, and arranges for equipment, supplies and transportation.
