Job Description:
Principle Responsibilities- Provides clinical care for patients while they are in the hospital.
- Completes comprehensive patient assessments.
- Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness.
- Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician.
- Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment.
- Conducts patient education when working to manage chronic illness or wellness care.
- Refers for specialty care when determined.
- Consults with physician when patient needs outside of Physician Assistant scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear.
- Promotes communication within the team and other interdisciplinary health care staff.
- Works with primary care team for program development.
- Acts as liaison with outside agencies as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Practice Details
- Collaborative and supportive atmosphere with Hospitalist team
- Excellian, our EMR, is a software product from Epic and is considered one of the most comprehensive systems in the nation.
- PA or NP considered
- Casual position with day/evening coverage
- Master's degree Completion of accredited Physician Assistant or accredited Nurse Practitioner program
- Certification as Physician Assistant - NCCPA National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants or CNP through ANCC
- Active, non-restricted medical license in MN (or ability to obtain)
- Ability to obtain and/or maintain MN DEA certification and National Provider Identifier (NPI)
- Ability to meet criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and hospital privileges
- ACLS/BLS Tier 3 - required within 180 Days
- One year of experience as a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner preferred
