We are looking for a Software Engineers to join our Lumen squad in US Retail Markets Claims Technology. If selected, you will have the opportunity to leverage your skills with cloud-based technology to build tools and solutions used to support new and innovative Personal Lines insurance products for Auto Physical Damage.
The Lumen squad is a crucial part of our overall claims handling experience, as APD accounts for 51% of our Personal Insurance business. Servicing over 7,000 adjusters across our shared platform, this team is in high demand to build modern solutions for resilient and stable platforms, while driving a customer experience that delights We have a short-feedback loop to ensure we are delivering on the ever-changing needs of our customers.
The squad is currently working to re-imagine our claims handling processes to enable future capabilities on differentiated systems to create a personalized, automated, and a touchless experience for our customers. This will provide an unmatched opportunity to work directly with our business partners and customers to define problems and build solutions from inception to implementation.
We are looking to insert some fresh, new perspective and continue to build a pipeline of talented, motivated, full-stack Engineers to help achieve our goals.
You will need to be a:

  • Technical problem solver : Going far beyond simply developing error-free source code, test scripts, components and system architectures, you'll document and build deployment guides aimed at maintaining robust, relevant software.
  • Customer-centric engineer : Putting clients' needs first, you'll translate customer requirements into technical applications and support the implementation of new software.
  • Motivated mentor : Exercise your technical chops while coaching and collaborating with junior software engineers.
  • Forward thinker : Merely fixing a problem isn't enough ? using your proactive mindset and initiative, you'll also identify opportunities to enhance performance, quality and efficiency.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong familiarity with React, Typescript/Javascript, CSS, , Front End testing experience, CI/CD pipelines, Git
  • Nice to haves: Eventing or Kafka experience, Java, SpringBoot, AWS, Kubernetes, SQL/relational DBs, GraphQL
  • Openness and adaptability to respond to fast-moving circumstances
  • Experience working in an agile environment
  • Experience with modern Full-Stack Engineering
  • Hands-on involvement with layered systems architectures, designs and shared software concepts
  • Awareness of policies regarding security and privacy

Qualifications

  • Three years of software engineering experience.
  • Experience working in an agile environment utilizing Scrum, Kanban or XP.
  • Demonstrated success in platform modernization initiatives, utilizing technologies such as REST; micro services; cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud; and Java, NodeJS and Spring Boot.
  • An ability to code in multiple languages, including an object-oriented language, preferably Java/J2EE.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills-and a knack for explaining your decision-making process to non-engineers.
  • A collaborative, adaptable working style, demonstrated initiative and the ability to prioritize your time and efforts.
  • A thorough grasp of technology concepts, business operations, design and development tools, system architecture and technical standards.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps tools.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent experience.
