Senior Project Accountant

Description:

Primary Responsibilities


• Analyzes and reviews project financials to ensure their accuracy and adherence to the contractual terms. Ensures billing matches the revenue calculated per the project status reports and notes any timing differences or other variances.


• Brings resolution to project variances to revenue by reconciling the differences and initiating any correcting entries that are necessary


• Consistently calculates, processes, distributes, files, and posts monthly/quarterly invoices for projects as assigned and is able to cover for team members when necessary


• Identifies inconsistencies/problems with billings and works to resolve. Resolves complex billing issues involving multiple areas such as project setup, contractual requirements, cost share and unallowable expenses


• Ensures that the billing staff provides all supporting documentation for project billings including creating and submitting of sponsor customized invoicing support, and any other reporting requirements to ensure adherence to established billing guidelines within the Briefs. Reviews and prepares/maintains complex sponsor-requested spreadsheets


• Manages and reviews contract change orders to ensure they are billed properly and to proactively address any potential anomalies


• Works directly with contract team and PMs to work through project issues and questions


• Maintains the Billing vs Revenue reconciliation until all the variances have been cleared


• Research's inconsistencies/potential problems at the project level and works with team and/or Manager to resolve the issues


• Assists with Project Close out process


• Maintains royalty payment distribution worksheet and initiates payments


• Provides ASC Revenue Recognition 606 Analysis & Memo at year end and also does a quarterly review to prep for year end


• Perform other duties as assigned (compliance requirement)

Additional Skills & Qualifications:


• B.S. degree in Accounting or Finance Required


• At least 7 years' experience in general accounting / project accounting


• Experience with contracts and government invoicing a plus


• Experience with CostPoint or Deltek Software and Adobe Pro


• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles


• Experience with reading Legal contracts and applying to invoicing


• Detail oriented with ability to achieve high level of accuracy


• Microsoft Office proficiency Including knowledge of Excel Pivot Tables, Formulas


• Ability to work well with all levels of employees through both written and verbal interpersonal communication skills


• Excellent problem-solving skills


• Creates clear and concise reconciliations / analyses that can be easily understood at all levels


• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
