Parsons is seeking motivated Mechanical/Physics student with an interest in survivability of critical U.S. and allied national/theater mission systems, networks, architectures, infrastructures, and assets for a summer 2024 intern position. This intern will gain exposure to vulnerabilities and survivability of these infrastructure against a broad spectrum of threats including accidents, natural disasters, technological failure, information system attacks, terrorists, radio frequency weapons (RFW), sabotage, and weapons of mass destruction (WMD).

We have several senior specialists with expertise in conducting assessments of supporting Defense Critical Infrastructure to identify vulnerabilities.

We need interns who are versatile, enthusiastic to work in highly flexible, team-oriented environments, who have exceptional communication, analytical and organizational skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop professionally and connect with our company leaders through our organized intern program.
  • Learn basics of disaster control and recovery, continuity of operations, and electromagnetic protection (e.g., electromagnetic pulse and radio frequency weapon susceptibility, lightning protection).
  • Ability to get understanding of root causes and recommend methods of resolution and provide expert advice on the development, integration, operation of and planning for spectrum specific countermeasures.
  • Exposure to some aspects of utility-related vulnerabilities, increases the customer's awareness of potential vulnerabilities, and impacts of utilities on mission execution capability, and provides recommendations to mitigate or eliminate identified vulnerabilities.
  • Provides support for other activities as required.

Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled in an engineering curriculum with a focus on engineering/physics at an accredited college or university and have completed at least two years of study
  • Must be able to obtain, maintain and/or currently possess a security clearance which requires US Citizenship

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Mechanical Engineering/Physics students nearing completion of undergraduate studies, or students currently enrolled in graduate studies are encouraged to apply. Students should have completed courses such as structural analysis, steel or concrete design, geotechnical engineering, etc.
  • Problem solver with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher is desirable

Salary Range:

$ $37.55
