Underwriter- Venture Captive Management

Venture Captive Management is a captive manager located in Atlanta, GA. We have several wholly owned captive managers locate in British and Domestic Venues. We offer an alternative to traditional insurance whereby we create an insurance company which your firm would own. We offer insurance coverage that is tailored to meet each client's specific needs. We cover most lines of insurance including: Workers Comp, General/Professional Liability, Health Benefits and Property. This self-insurance vehicle (called a Captive) offers your company three advantages over the traditional method of transferring risk: Control, Ownership & Profit.

The Underwriter will help produce profitable business with our new products, while developing long-term relationships with our production resources. The Underwriter will be responsible for underwriting a profitable growing book of business, while driving sales through our captive agency distribution network.

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Being responsible for all new and renewal policy management of large captives (25 or more locations)
  • Interface with Actuaries to compile requested captive data for renewal
  • Provide captive clients, claims TPA and third parties with requested policies, endorsements, proof of insurance and other documents as requested.
  • Responsible for new and renewal underwriting for assigned RRG agents
  • Binding and invoicing of new RRG accounts
  • Monthly renewal underwriting and distribution of offers to assigned agents, including selecting prices, classifies and determines coverage terms of general liability risks following established company guidelines and philosophies.
  • Provides assistance with coverage questions and program adjustments; solves problems regarding client account issues.
  • Assists Underwriting Team in producing client proposals, analysis and presentations as required.
  • Underwriting administration; prepare and distribute new business binders, invoices, cancellations, and endorsement processing.
  • Develop and maintain goodwill between corporate constituents.
  • Execute and maintain responsible underwriting guidelines and policy management processes (applications, binders, policies, certificates, billing).
  • Facilitate the flow of information between VCM and actuaries.
  • Interface with all areas of VCM to provide timely, accurate information Venture Captive Management, LLC
  • Performs related duties as requested to include report preparation, presentations, and special projects.
  • Attend relative conferences, meetings, and engagements to foster knowledge of Captive Insurance and Risk Retention Groups.
  • Any other task which may be assigned
Required Competencies and Skills:
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

  • Organized, able to prioritize and multitask well
  • Detail oriented
  • Works well in small team environment
Preferred Education, Experience:
  • Bachelor of Art or Science degree
  • At least five (2) years insurance experience (specifically in Healthcare, Benefits and/or Worker's Compensation)
  • Associate in Underwriting (AU) and/or Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation (desired)
  • P&C Agent License (desired)
