Job Description

Title: Children's Mental Health Program Supervisor
Department: Children's Mental Health Program (CMHP)
Title of Immediate Supervisor: Children's Mental Health Program Manager

POSITION SUMMARY: The CMHP Supervisor work within New Directions Community Crisis Intervention, Mobile Crisis Response, and Children's non-Medicaid Care Management programs to support youth and families within Niagara County who are experiencing mental health difficulties and crisis situations. The CMHP Supervisor will also carry a caseload amongst the areas of responsibility.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
Caseload assignment – CCI and CM:

• Assign cases between self and CMHP Coordinator, in collaboration with CMHP Manager based on staff availability and skill

• Collaborate with Niagara County Mental Health (SPOA and Crisis Services) on referrals, case progress, and client outcomes

• Utilize a trauma informed, solution focused approach

• Provide staff with ongoing "open-door" supervision, as needed to process crisis situations, as well as for day-to-day troubleshooting

• Provide for caseload coverage for staff, as needed, during absences and vacations.
Mobile Crisis

• Respond immediately to all phone calls received by Niagara County Crisis services during business hours

• Ensure backup coverage is secured for time off

• Establish a monthly calendar to ensure after hours 24/7 coverage/response by Mobile Crisis Child Specialists

• Provide on site assessment and intervention assistance to youth in crisis as identified by the Niagara County Hotline

• Support the youth and family with the development of an immediate crisis plan and/or safety plan

• Provide training, support, and supervision for Mobile Crisis Child Specialists

• Provide follow up phone calls and home visits as necessary to all referrals received by Niagara County Crisis Services.

• Provide appropriate linkages/referrals to all clients served, including linkages to CCI as appropriate.

• Submit required documentation for CMCT outreach calls to the Niagara County Crisis Services within 24 hours of an event
Supervision:

• Complete staff performance evaluations. Provide ongoing feedback and support regarding staff's strengths and needs, developing ongoing plans to address need areas.

• Ensure staff have the skills and tools necessary to ensure and maintain safety in the community (i.e. following pre-established safety protocols, community safety training, appropriate crisis planning, etc.).

• Provide regular 1:1 supervision with supervisees, based on New Directions policies and procedures, to ensure that staff utilize strength-based language and approaches with families, and engage with systems and other service providers to ensure a collaborative approach

• Ensure New Directions policies and procedures are adhered to regarding staff resignations/terminations and hires; Working in collaboration with the Human Resources department in recruiting, interviewing, hiring and orienting/training new staff, student interns and/or program volunteers

• Apprise Supervisor of any significant issues regarding staff
Community Collaboration:

• Represent agency in community or inter-agency activities

• Keep informed of community programming to assist in linking families to assist with goal progress.

• Provide outreach information to community partners to inform them of services available through the program
Agency Standards/Norms:

• Participate in regular supervision (per New Directions policy and procedure)

• Maintain a flexible schedule based around client availability, including evenings

• Adhere to agency and department policies and procedures

• Utilize normative culture

• Perform all other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor

SKILL, QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
