Role Outline
This role provides technical leadership to support the delivery of North American business growth strategy through sustained cost advantage initiatives and product development. These projects will span discovery, feasibility, development, and implementation phases of product formulation projects with a focus on cost, quality, production scaling and supply continuity.
Expectations of the Role Include:

  • Work collaboratively and cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Marketing, Procurement, Sales, Operations and Finance to influence and drive projects forward.
  • Proof of concept testing to determine savings and feasibility.
  • On time, in full, in quality and at cost delivery of projects that successfully make it to implementation, as committed in the gate process.
  • Develop robust and accurate ingredient and finished product specifications that are fit for purpose and protect McCain's interests.
  • Bring creative solutions to technical commercialization challenges.
  • Actively build ideas of cost savings opportunities for ingredients, finished products and processes that will improve the value proposition for the current McCain Foods North America portfolio.

Core Accountabilities:

  • Lead technical delivery of medium-to-high complexity programs from ideation to implementation.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to drive ingredient changes that deliver against McCain's standards and expectations.
  • Builds relationships within the organization to drive changes within the McCain business. Organizational relationships include Marketing, Manufacturing, Procurement, Sales, and Operations.
  • Conduct the technical development and qualification of any new ingredients or product specifications, inclusive of creating, routing, and approving of all ingredient and product changes through technical project management.

Qualifications and Experienced Required:

  • Requires a BS in Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related technical field, with demonstrated knowledge of product commercialization.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience in consumer goods, preferably in food.
  • Strong business acumen, communication, interpersonal, influencing and relationship-building skills.
  • Successful candidates will have strong technical depth, dynamic cross-functional interaction and highly effective communication skills.
