Position Summary

Minnkota Power is seeking qualified applicants for a Civil Engineer position located at our headquarters in Grand Forks, North Dakota. This position is responsible for Substation Design Engineering, Engineering Analysis, Project Management, and support of Operations and Maintenance personnel.

The salary range for this position begins at $70,560 per year. Appropriate pay will be determined based on a candidate\u0027s skills, education, and previous relevant experience.

Essential Responsibilities
Substation Design EngineeringPrepare and plan profile drawings, construction drawings and specificationsDevelop complete material lists for projectsAssure all substation designs meet strength and safety requirements of the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and/or Rural Utility System (RUS) design manualEngineering AnalysisPerform foundation and grading design calculationsPerform structural design and strength calculationsDesign physical substation layouts for both transmission and distribution sitesProject ManagementProject scoping, planning and estimating of substation projectsConsultant, contractor and construction coordination and managementOperations and Maintenance SupportProvide day-to-day guidance and technical expertise to operations and maintenance personnel

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Required:
Bachelor\u0027s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited universityEngineer In Training (EIT) Certification
Preferred:
Professional License (PE)
Experience

Required:
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred:
Experience in the energy industry and with substation design a plusInterested candidates with no experience are encouraged to apply, as extensive on the job training will occurExperience with AutoCAD
