Strategic Product Leader

The Strategic Product Leader (SPL) plays a crucial role in shaping the Value Chain and is accountable for: 1) crafting product-oriented strategies, 2) driving continuous enhancements throughout the supply chain, and 3) overseeing Integrated Risk Management for products.

As a Strategic Product Leader, you will head the cross-functional Value Chain Management Team (VCMT) for various vaccine products, crafting and upholding a long-term product strategy, prioritizing essential investments across the vaccines supply chain, ensuring key project delivery, and steering the achievement of brand operating goals year after year.

The responsibilities of the SPL encompass overseeing the product supply strategy, which includes product sourcing, network capacity assurance, major market introductions, product improvements, technical modifications, quality enhancement initiatives, and business continuity planning alongside Integrated Risk Management.

The SPL will collaborate closely with the Global Brand Team and Product Development Team (PDT) leaders to guarantee synchronized execution of top priorities at the enterprise level. It's vital for the SPL to ensure that value, constraints, costs, and risks are thoroughly understood and factored into decision-making processes and harmonized with enterprise-level product lifecycle planning.

Furthermore, the SPL will lead the VCMT to act as a primary escalation team at the network level, addressing issues and risks escalated from sites and functions that necessitate network-level responses and communications. The SPL will be responsible for efficiently driving decisions through proper governance channels, representing brand performance and agenda, priorities, and performance to senior stakeholders within Global Vaccines Operations (GVO) and the Manufacturing Division. In the capacity of VCMT leader, the SPL will be tasked with defining horizontal objectives for team members, providing guidance and leadership, and collaborating with functional teams.

This position demands a high level of integration and necessitates profound expertise in vaccines operations and technical domains, coupled with exceptional leadership abilities to envision and motivate the team and stakeholders. Effective talent management, team development, and outstanding communication skills are also pivotal in this role.

The Strategic Product Leader holds the responsibility for managing product portfolios that can generate significant revenue for the company.

Position Qualifications:

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Required:
    • BA/BS in Engineering or Science
  • Preferred:
    • Lean Six Sigma Blackbelt
    • Master's Degree with a minimum of ten (10) years relevant work experience

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Extensive expertise in Vaccines Operations
  • Wide-ranging cross-functional skills and business/management acumen
  • Understanding of key business functions including: Manufacturing Operations, Finance, Regulatory, Quality, Compliance, Supply Chain, and Commercial Operations
  • Strategic thinking capacity and ability to synthesize complex inputs into a cohesive strategy aligned with business objectives
  • Proven ability to make timely decisions and influence outcomes in ambiguous scenarios
  • Effective horizontal and vertical leadership skills to maximize team and individual contributions. A solid business mindset, assertiveness, persuasion capabilities, and fostering accountability through measurable achievements are foundational to success
  • Proactive approach and eagerness to identify and engage in enhancing value chains and related business processes within the organization beyond assigned responsibilities
  • Experience in cross-functional project management with diverse teams across locations, leading to impactful outcomes and influencing processes and behaviors
  • Demonstrated mindset of embracing new experiences as learning opportunities that enhance leadership skills and the ability to guide others

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Lean Six Sigma Certification
  • International/Global exposure
  • Experience across multiple sectors

Employees working in roles that require routine collaboration with external stakeholders, such as customer-facing commercial, or research-based roles, will need to adhere not only to Company policies but also to external stakeholder policies (for example, vaccination requirements).

U.S. Hybrid Work Model:

Starting September 5, 2023, U.S. office-based employees will transition to a Hybrid work model with a combination of on-site and remote work. Field-based, facility-based, manufacturing-based, or research-based positions will require daily on-site presence. Collective-bargaining agreement roles and positions deemed unsuitable for remote work will not be part of the Hybrid model. Remote-designated roles will remain unaffected.
