Position Specific Description:

NextEra Energy is looking for a Systems Engineer to work on utility-scale BESS facilities. In this role, you will be responsible for developing requirements processes, creating control systems requirements, and overseeing utility-scale energy storage projects. The ideal candidate will have the ability to develop controls logic, implement complex programs, supervise equipment installation, establish site verification protocols, conduct testing and troubleshooting, and ensure all SCADA and controls project requirements are fulfilled.


  • Understand power purchase agreements, ISO business practices, and tariffs, and extract relevant data to design SCADA and controls systems
  • Develop processes for managing control system requirements across a fleet of power plants
  • Oversee development and implementation of SCADA and controls project requirements
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams and serve as a SCADA and controls Subject Matter Expert for internal and external customers
  • Engage with IT group to ensure equipment and network requirements meet project and company standards
  • Coordinate with equipment suppliers for factory integration testing of new hardware designs
  • Support commissioning team during plant turnover
