Middle School Theater Teacher

Sayre School seeks a dedicated professional to serve as our Middle School Theatre teacher. An essential part of our academics and extracurriculars, theatre arts are woven throughout the school. Our Middle School Theatre teacher directs one musical performance per year, offers electives, teaches Theatre grade 6 – 8, manages scheduling for the arts, and provides support to Lower School and 5 th grade dramatic productions. There is potential for growth in our offerings.
The successful candidate holds a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Theatre or Theatre education, experience in the field, and an interest in collaborating with a team of teachers. An active curiosity about kids of this age, openness to all forms of human diversity, flexibility and a sense of humor are key. This is a wonderful independent school and a great place to work.

Job responsibilities include:
· Teaching classes of sixth, seventh and eighth grade Theatre
· Casting and directing a Middle School Musical (rehearsals are primarily during the school day)
· Supporting two Upper School productions (rehearsals are after school)
· Scheduling Fine and Performing Arts classes across the Middle School
· Working collaboratively with the Upper School Director of Theatre
· Writing narrative comments about students at the conclusion of each term
· Regular duties around the school
