Typical Duties/Job Duties
1. Effective teaching, service, and commitment to the Department of Communication and Mass Media.
2. While the primary teaching assignment for this position will be Public Speaking, the individual, as needed, will be assigned to teach other undergraduate level courses.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- While the primary teaching assignment for this position will be Public Speaking, preference will be given to individuals with the ability to teach in one or more of the other areas of communication. Those areas include: general communication studies, dual credit public speaking, social media/public relations, and/or digital media.
- The individual hired for this position will be required to fully participate in the activities of the department to include recruitment and service on department committees.
- Knowledge of current educational methods and strategies, including learner-centered instruction, assessment, evaluation and collaborative techniques and strategies that address closing the gap in student access and achievement across race, gender and disability.
- Skill in the use of educational technology and alternative delivery methods.
Master's degree in Communication or closely related field. (Required)
Master's degree in other field with a minimum of 18 hours in Communication. (considered)
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Willingness to teach both traditional and face to face online delivery modes.
Preferred Qualifications
Individuals with the ability to teach in one or more of the other areas of communication. Areas include: general communication studies, dual credit public speaking, public relations, and/or digital media. Preference will also be given to individuals with Radio/TV experience.
