ABOUT Hermosa

Hermosa, located approximately 75 miles south-east of Tucson, Arizona, is the only advanced mining project in the United States as of 2023 that could produce two federally designated critical minerals-manganese and zinc-as well as silver and lead.

The project has the potential to help power the nation's clean energy future, strengthen the domestic supply chain of critical minerals, grow the local economy, and improve lives in Santa Cruz County and the surrounding community for generations to come.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of front-end engineering and detailed engineering activities for the Clark Project.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:

  • Responsible for overall mechanical engineering system design, ensuring safety and strict conformance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations;
  • Develop mechanical design criteria, specifications, datasheets, technical standards, and procedures;
  • Manage and oversee scopes of work done by external service providers, and verify designs and deliverables meet appropriate quality and compliance requirements;
  • Coordinate mechanical design basis with all other internal or external engineering disciplines, construction teams, and operations specialists as required;
  • Coordinate and interface with vendors, suppliers, and contracting partners;
  • Manage completion of all assigned deliverables in line with allocated budgets and schedule;
  • Ensures that project engineering activities and services are executed in conformity with South32's policies and plans.

ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering required
  • Minimum 6 years of mining mechanical engineering design.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools used to track cost, schedule and quality
  • Maintain high standards of professional and ethical conduct
