Old Trail School seeks a passionate and innovative educator to serve as an Atelierista within our Early Childhood Program.

The ideal candidate will support the community by fostering a learning environment that empowers young children to conduct research, deepen understanding, and convey their theories through expressive materials and creative languages.

The Atelierista is responsible for designing and maintaining an organized, inspiring, and aesthetically appealing learning environment within the Atelier, as well as communicating and championing the vision and value of the Atelier and The Hundred Languages of Children through parent education, faculty meetings, and documentation.

Our ideal candidate values child-driven, process-oriented experiences, and a play-based curriculum, enjoys working with children 2 through 6 years old, has a strong understanding of this developmental stage, and has a background in the Reggio Emilia approach to education as well as Project Based Learning.

The Atelierista will collaborate with classroom educators to plan, implement, and support long-term, intentional research and project work.

They will also support classroom educators in designing classroom provocations and invitations that bring about meaningful experiences with multiple languages including light and shadow, color, paint, line tools, clay, nature, movement, and sound.

The candidate will be expected to be a role model for the School's core values:

Applicants should hold a bachelor's degree with a major or minor in Education or an appropriate field.

Applicants should have 1-2 years of teaching experience in the classroom or non-traditional educational settings (camps, outdoor centers, etc.) They should have awareness and professional knowledge of the Reggio Emilia approach, The Hundred Languages of Children, project/problem-based learning, and child development.

Most importantly, applicants should love working with children, in a collaborative, upbeat, and positive environment.
