GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF ASSIGNED DUTIES:
This position is located in the Specialty Medicine Service Line at the Sioux Falls VA Healthcare System and reports directly to the Chief Hospitalist.
Physician provides consultation services and follow up of medical sub-specialty patients, in the inpatient setting, at the VA Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.
Duties:
Hospitalist's duties include admission, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment, including consultation, of patients presenting with general medical complaints, diseases, and injuries.
Core privileges include the ability to perform a history and physical exam, form a differential diagnosis, order and interpret labs and other diagnostic tests such as plain films and EKGs, develop and implement treatment plans, order subspecialty consultations and provide appropriate follow-up care.
Core privileges also include triage of patients with non-medicine complaints, diseases, and injuries to appropriate disciplines for diagnosis and treatment.
Experienced and privileged in Paracentesis, Thoracentesis, Lumbar Punctures, and Stress Tests preferred.The Hospitalist will perform administrative tasks as assigned, such as peer reviews, Compensation and Pension evaluations, and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE).

Work Schedule:
Rotating 12 hour shifts. 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am

Pay:
Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off:
50-55 days of annual paid time offer per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
