Position Purpose:

The Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) Analyst is responsible for the bank's mortgage, consumer and commercial lending data that is collected and reported in accordance with HMDA and the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) regulatory requirements. Key Accountabilities, Responsibilities and Expectations:

  • Interpret, analyze, and understand HMDA data and its reporting requirements.
  • Facilitate the collection of HMDA data from mortgage, consumer, and commercial lines of business on a regular and timely basis.
  • Review loan files as needed to validate information reported on the HMDA Loan Application Register (LAR).
  • Proactively communicate exceptions, errors, or other concerns to the applicable line of business for review and resolution during internal and external reviews.
  • Conduct edit checks and provide feedback to management on areas requiring improvement to ensure data integrity.
  • Prepare and submit annual HMDA LAR to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).
  • Develop, document, and execute applicable review and/or audit test samples independently or in conjunction with the Compliance team.
  • Adheres to industry standard reporting requirements regarding exceptions identified in the review process.
  • Participate in Compliance reviews, ad-hoc projects and training efforts, as required.
  • Attend training(s) (as available) to stay current on regulatory changes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to multi-task and manage workload, including ad-hoc requests and adhere to deadlines.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Financial services or Compliance experience preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience reviewing or auditing mortgage, consumer, or commercial lending data
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with large datasets (1,000+ files, fields, or inputs)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with proprietary software products (Microsoft Excel, CRA Wiz or others).
  • Intermediate understanding of applicable loan file documentation and underwriting policies.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Fair Lending laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Some knowledge of CRA regulations and requirements.
  • Strong understanding of the Federal Reserve Bank system.
  • Strong knowledge of HMDA related rules and regulations with a strong ability to apply regulatory changes to loan operations, as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Work involves eye strain due to the frequent use of computer screens, reading of reports and documents.
  • Work involves sitting for long periods at a time.
  • Work involves being able to concentrate on the matter at hand, under sometimes distracting work conditions.
