Job Description

The UNR Office of Animal Resources is recruiting for a Temporary Hourly position. This position will provide the incumbent with experience in animal science, comparative biology, and veterinary support functions for the campus-wide programs of scientific and teaching support, principally involving laboratory rodents.

The incumbents will perform health checks under the mentoring of UNR veterinarians, perform cage changes, feeding, cleaning, and room maintenance to assist faculty programs in the centralized facilities on campus. Attending staff meetings to coordinate new projects and participating in the ongoing staff training series in practical laboratory animal science and comparative medicine topics are also components of these duties.

  • Candidates must have high ethical standards, reliability, and good communication skills
  • Candidates must have the ability to follow direction with minimum errors
  • Candidates must have the the ability to work independently and efficiently
  • Candidates must have the an excellent team-oriented attitude, and be able to maintain confidentiality
  • Participation in the campus-wide occupational health program for animal workers is required
Schedule

Expected hours to work per week: 25

Performing health checks (3 hours per day) on some weekends and holidays is also expected in the rotational calendar for those duties.
