The Assistant Manager assists in the overall day-to-day workflow, management and direction of the Anesthesia Technicians and Operating Room Assistants across the organization. Responsible for interviewing, hiring/firing, scheduling, performance evaluations, quality reviews, timecard reconciliations, staff education, coaching, development, support and promotion of customer relations, and monitoring of activities to ensure performance standards are achieved. Responsible for training new employees, providing ongoing education, and professional development opportunities for the team to ensure the that they are up to date with the latest techniques and safety protocols. Monitors the quality of services provided, conducts audits, and implements improvements to maintain high standards of patient care. Assists in the development and implementation of policies, procedures and practices with the Anesthesia and Operating Room support areas. Assists in department planning and goal setting.

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.

  • Assists in the overall day-to-day workflow, management and direction of the Anesthesia Technicians and Operating Room Assistants across the organization.
  • Oversees the daily operations including assigning tasks, setting schedules, and providing guidance to anesthesia technicians and operating room assistants. Managing staffing levels, equipment, and materials/supplies, and coordinates with other departments to ensure resource availability. Revises workflow to effectively facilitate customer and departmental needs.
  • Performs supervisory functions for the assigned departments and/or program by interviewing and recommending the hiring of new staff members; providing or arranging for training for subordinates; evaluating subordinates' performance; and recommending personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, or disciplinary action to ensure adequate and competent staffing.
  • Assists the Manager in administrative and managerial functions. Assuming the duties and responsibilities of the Manager as delegated and/or in case of absence. This includes overseeing and managing the timecards, and schedule by ensuring the accurate record-keeping of hours worked by staff.
  • Facilitates orientation, training, and ongoing staff development; assists in coaching, developing, and corrective action of personnel as appropriate; participates in ongoing and annual evaluation of employee performance. Conducts interviews, handling hiring/firing, and disciplinary actions.
  • Serves as a liaison between management and the operating room, clinics, and other departments within the hospital. Resolves operational and personnel issues that arise daily. Addresses team issues and handles challenges that arise during procedures or patient care.
  • Participates in unit goal planning, development, and evaluation of growth and special projects as assigned. Supports continuous quality, process, and performance improvement, and risk management. Monitors service quality, conducts audits, and implements improvements to maintain high standards of patient care.
  • Assists in the development and administration of policies, procedures and short-term goals for the Anesthesia and Operating Room support areas.
  • Assists in the procurement of new anesthesia technologies and operating room equipment to purchase or upgrade. Assists in the standardization of supply chain management practices to optimize inventory control, reduce waste, and minimize costs associated with anesthesia and operating room supplies.
  • Assists in the review and revision if quality assurance processes to ensure adherence to best practices, regulatory standards, and patient safety protocols. Identifies areas for improvement and assists in the implementation of corrective actions to address any deficiencies, adhere to quality standards, result in fewer errors, reduce complications, and enhance patient satisfaction.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of a comprehensive training and development program for Anesthesia Techs and Operating Room Assistants. Conduct assessments on training needs to identify gaps in staff knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as emerging trends or technologies. Assists in the development and implementation of customized training and development programs to address identified needs, incorporating a blend of hands-on simulations, and peer learning opportunities.
  • Coordinates with personnel of other departments regarding patient and/or staff related problems. Notifies appropriate personnel of supply requirements; makes recommendations concerning the purchase, maintenance and/or repair of equipment.
  • Assesses current processes to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas for improvement. Assists in the development and implementation of standardized protocols and best practices, incorporating evidence-based guidelines, regulatory requirements, and patient-centered principles. Minimum Qualifications Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying. Education: Associate degree in a work-related field/discipline from an accredited college or university Experience: Three (3) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience. License/Certification: Certified Anesthesia Technician within one year of hire. -AND- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Certification for Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities These are the observable and measurable attributes and skills required to perform successfully the essential functions of the job and are generally demonstrated through qualifying experience, education, or licensure/certification.

  • Capacity to identify and analyze complex problems related to anesthesia and surgical services.
  • Ability to develop and implement innovative solutions to address operational challenges and improve efficiency.
  • Skill in troubleshooting equipment issues and resolving emergencies in a timely and effective manner.
  • Accountable for the smooth operations of anesthesia services and operating room departments.
  • Responsible for supervising and leading a combined team of anesthesia technicians and operating room assistants.
  • Charged with ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, quality standards, and patient safety protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective liaising with healthcare providers, departmental staff, and hospital administration.
  • Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and foster a positive work environment.
  • Skill in conflict resolution, mentorship, and providing constructive feedback to staff members. Pay Range

Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.

Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.

Minimum to Midpoint Range (1.0 FTE): $93,308.80 to $123,708.00
