Battle Ground Academy seeks a proven communicator, facilitator, and educator to join its leadership team in The Director of Primary and Intermediate Education (grades K-4) is responsible for assisting in the administration, coordination, and supervision of elementary programs.
Founded in 1889, BGA is a Pre-K-12 grade college preparatory school located in Franklin, TN. Serving a diverse student population from the surrounding counties, the school embodies the core values of character, scholarship, and excellence in all facets of campus life.
Job Description: The ideal candidate for the position of Director of Primary and Intermediate education will have experience in effectively managing and leading students, faculty, and staff. S/he will have demonstrated success in communicating effectively with a wide array of constituents including parents, prospective families, staff, and students. This highly relational role entails supporting and aligning efforts among faculty, curriculum, and instructional specialists while collaborating with other members of the administration to enhance overall program effectiveness.
Responsibilities:
General Leadership:
- Provide leadership in alignment with the school's mission, values, and educational philosophy.
- Develop and implement innovative educational programs that foster academic excellence, character development, and holistic growth.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to design and implement a rigorous, inquiry-based curriculum that meets the needs of diverse learners.
- Foster a culture of professional growth, and continuous improvement among faculty and staff.
- Participate actively in the support, implementation, and supervision of all primary and intermediate initiatives.
Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessments:
- Collect and maintain data on trends, needs, and success at the primary and intermediate levels, compiling information for reports and sharing out appropriately.
- Oversee early literacy materials and assessments, advising on interventions and enrichment based on student levels.
- Support grade level teams the use of data for the cycle of inquiry.
- Coordinate articulation and consistency of curriculum, pacing guides, assessments, and programming.
- Work in conjunction with the Academic Resource Center and Lower School counselors on learning support and social-emotional initiatives.
Site Support:
- Address operational concerns for campus.
- Respond to or investigate all elementary parent concerns and inquiries, coordinating resolutions.
- Support the development and execution of policies, procedures, and practices that enable the safe and effective running of the school's operations.
Staff and Community Engagement:
- Represent the school in a professional manner in and out of official capacities.
- Coordinate student transitions to middle school.
- Attend school and community meetings.
- Promote positive staff morale and commitment.
- Evaluate staff and faculty both formally and informally.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degrees preferred.
- Highly relational and collaborative problem solver with a positive, proactive approach to iterative improvements.
- Mature, flexible, sensitive, calm under pressure, possessing a sense of humor, empathetic, diplomatic, organized, self-motivated, and amiable.
- Commitment to improving the effectiveness of expanding and retaining students, families, faculty, and staff to reflect the diversity of Williamson County and beyond.
