Job Summary

Marriott has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer on the Software Engineering – Data Platforms team. This role is part of the team focused on building out our next-generation business intelligence (BI) platform using a cloud-based technologies. Appropriate candidates have a passion for data, business intelligence (BI), emerging technologies, a vision for building next-generation capabilities, and a strong drive for success.

In this role, you will function as a technical expert and lead engineer for the Data Platform team, especially in the business intelligence (BI) area. You will perform research, analysis, design, and development on a wide range of next-generation data capabilities and products. You will work in Business Intelligence (BI) area to set technical standards, design the semantic data modeling layer, and define metrics. You will also work to define data modeling standards to ensure consistent and efficient data models across all data products.

You will assume technical ownership of Service Provider deliverables and lead their technical resources to ensure deliverables are of high quality, follow our technical standards & best practices, and perform at scale.

In addition, you will research emerging technologies that will provide future capabilities as well as seek solutions for complex technical issues. You will make decisions on complex, non-routine requests to support analytics-based decisioning by Marriott business teams.

Candidate ProfileEducation And ExperienceRequired5+ years of experience in Power BI Service, Power BI Desktop, Power BI Report Builder, Power Query, Power Apps, Power Automate, DAX etc
Knowledge of various semantic modelling tools (Atscale, Dremio..) and Business Intelligence portal tools (Metric Insights)
Knowledge of best practices for report performance tuning
Ability to review report mock-ups for feasibility and suggest alternatives accordingly
2+ years' hands-on experience developing large-scale data warehouse and data products at enterprise scale
1+ years' hands-on experience developing large-scale data pipelines and applications at enterprise scale
2+ years' hands-on experience with Snowflake
Strong technical leader with proven ability to lead Service Provider technical resources
Strong communication skills
Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or Engineering
Preferred3+ years' hands-on experience with Hive, HiveQL & Spark
2+ years' experience with AWS S3 and Lambda
2+ years' experience in migrating data platforms/applications to AWS
Graduate degree in Computer Science or Engineering
Technology certifications in Spark, Snowflake
AWS Data Analytics certification
Experience with Airflow, Python
Experience with Data Governance Tools such as Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog
Hashicorp Tokenization Products
Experience with NoSQL databases, preferable Cassandra
Experience in agile software methodologies
Demonstrated ability to anticipate future data platform opportunities
Technology leadership experience in a sourced environment
AWS Solutions Architect or Developer certification

California Applicants Only The salary range for this position is $96,038.00 to $209,169.00 annually.
Colorado Applicants Only The salary range for this position is $96,038.00 to $190,154.00 annually.
Hawaii Applicants Only The salary range for this position is $116,205.00 to $209,169.00 annually.
New York Applicants Only The salary range for this position is $96,038.00 to $209,169.00 annually.
Washington Applicants Only The salary range for this position is $96,038.00 to $209,169.00 annually. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible to receive an annual bonus. Employees will accrue PTO balance for every hour worked and eligible to receive minimum of 7 holidays annually.
