Initiate, monitor, and adjust oxygen/humidity devices.(Adult Care required; Neonatal/Pediatric Care as needed per Department.) a. Know the indications for, application of and hazards associated with oxygen/humidity administration devices so that an informed dialogue can occur with the patient, their physician, or other health care providers should questions or problems arise. b. Initiate and adjust oxygen/humidity devices in accordance with physician's orders and in compliance with department standards. c. Monitor patient response to oxygen/humidity therapy by accurately interpreting arterial blood gases and recognizing clinical signs and symptoms of hypoxia or inadequate airway humidification. Know the responses to adverse reactions to oxygen therapy. d. Promptly inform the physician when a patient's condition warrants a change in oxygen/humidity delivery device or concentration. e. Accurately document oxygen/humidity therapy usage, according to department standards in a complete and timely manner.
Position Requirements:
Minimum Education:
Required: Associates Degree OR equivalent training acquired via work experience or education
Preferred: Bachelors Degree
Specify Degree(s): Completion of accredited respiratory care program
Minimum Experience:
Required: Less than one year of previous job-related experience
Preferred: 1-2 years of previous job-related experience
Licensure/Certifications:

Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)
CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
Current Respiratory Care License State of Illinois
Preferred:
ACLS (Advanced Cardio Life Support Certified)
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Recognition
PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Other: CRT credential and Respiratory Care License for State of Illinois must be obtained within 6 months from date of hire. NRP is required for Primary NeoNatal practitioners.
