The Actuarial Associate will support product pricing and reinsurance for Life Insurance and Worksite products. Specifically, the Actuarial Associate will utilize various data sources to design and develop models that provide relevant information to aid short, mid, and long-term decision-making from a product pricing, reinsurance, and business development perspective. The Associate will utilize their in-depth understanding of analytical and statistical approaches/tools to transform the way in which data is translated into actionable intelligence while encompassing a distribution-focused and customer-focused culture.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Experience Studies:
  • Develops and/or provides support for actuarial experience studies for all key assumptions, including policyholder behavior, capital requirements, and expense assumptions as needed.
  • Utilizes Power BI to perform experience study analysis, building the appropriate analytic tools.
Pricing and Modeling:
  • Supports the integration of new products into the pricing and corporate in-force models.
  • Develops, supports, and tests actuarial modeling changes and enhancements in ALFA and other actuarial systems, including regression and unit testing.
  • Maintains and improves appropriate control environment for modeling and reporting.
Data Analytics and Business Intelligence:
  • Designs and develops interactive dashboards and reports using technologies such as Power BI and Tableau.
  • Assists business leaders to develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and creates real-time dashboards and/or reports to track business performance.
  • Identifies performance trends and recommends improvements based on data-driven insights.
  • Provides regular updates to management on performance metrics and trends.
  • Collects, cleans, and preprocess data from various sources to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
  • Interprets data findings to uncover actionable insights and opportunities for business growth.
  • Conducts presentations and prepares reports for effective communication of data to a diverse audience.
Team support:
  • Supports the Actuarial team, Business Development team and/or other departments on an as-needed basis.
  • Willingly takes on additional responsibilities as requested to accomplish department and Company objectives.
  • Actively participates and contributes to the goals and objectives of the Company by working collaboratively and fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office product, including Excel and Access.
  • Working knowledge of actuarial software such as ALFA.
  • Highly motivated, well organized, and detail oriented.
  • Ability to communicate actuarial results to non-actuaries.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Strong initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Carries out responsibilities in a manner that is consistent with Atlanta Life's Core Values.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset in a fast-paced work environment, and dynamic work culture. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks accordingly.
Training or Work Experience:
  • Minimum of 1 year of reinsurance and/or pricing experience with group life, individual life, voluntary benefits/worksite products required.
  • 2+ years of reinsurance and/or pricing experience with group life, individual life, voluntary benefits/worksite products preferred.
  • Experience with ALFA or similar actuarial software preferred.
  • Successful completion of at least 2 Society of Actuaries exams required.
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree - Actuarial Science, Math, Statistics, Data Analytics required.
Working Conditions:

Hybrid - Atlanta, Georgia.

Business Travel: Infrequent travel (less than 5% of the time).
