Costume Designer/Costume Shop Manager

Wabash College invites applications for a Costume Designer/Costume Shop Manager to collaborate with faculty directors and mentor a diverse, undergraduate student population. This is a 10-month full-time, salaried, non-tenure track position that begins July 1, 2024. Position is continuing based on periodic performance reviews and Department and College needs and circumstances. We seek an artist/educator with an active creative practice interested in exploring performance in a small, collegial, liberal-arts context. M.F.A in Costume Design required.

Responsibilities would include:

Design costumes for three main stage productions per academic year.
Supervise the operations of the Department of Theater Costume Shop to ensure an organized, efficient and safe environment for the purposes of theatrical production and student education.
Oversee, instruct, and supervise student employees and contract labor as required to complete work within budgetary guidelines.
Coordinate and participate in fittings, maintain budgets, and organize the purchase of materials for construction and maintenance of costumes.
Coordinate and supervise make-up needs for three mainstage productions.
Maintain all Costume Shop machinery, tools, inventory, and stock.
Teach one to two courses per year in costume design, and courses in line with artistic interests and expertise (e.g. puppetry, prop design, makeup, etc.).
