We're immediately looking for a Hydrogeologist for a full-time opening with a large construction firm.

As a Hydrogeologist, you will play a crucial role in studying the distribution, movement, and quality of groundwater resources. Your work will contribute to understanding the complex interactions between surface water and groundwater, assessing environmental impacts, and managing water resources sustainably. This position requires a combination of fieldwork, data analysis, and scientific expertise to address various hydrogeological challenges.

Pay
$70,000 to $100,000 a year

Responsibilities
  • Conduct field surveys and investigations to assess groundwater resources, including drilling boreholes, installing monitoring wells, and collecting water samples.
  • Perform aquifer tests to determine hydraulic properties such as permeability and storage coefficients.
  • Monitor groundwater levels, flow rates, and quality using various instrumentation and techniques.
  • Analyze geological, hydrological, and hydrochemical data to characterize aquifer properties and groundwater flow patterns.
  • Utilize GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and specialized software to model groundwater flow and simulate contaminant transport.
  • Interpret findings and prepare technical reports, maps, and presentations for stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and clients.
  • Assess the potential impacts of human activities, such as industrial operations, mining, and land development, on groundwater resources.
  • Conduct groundwater contaminant investigations, including delineating plumes, assessing migration pathways, and evaluating remediation strategies.
  • Provide expert advice on groundwater protection measures and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with government agencies, consulting firms, and stakeholders to develop water resource management plans and policies.
  • Participate in hydrogeological studies related to water supply development, well field design, and groundwater recharge projects.
  • Evaluate sustainable groundwater extraction rates and recommend strategies for managing water scarcity and drought conditions.
  • Stay current with advances in hydrogeological research, technology, and best practices.
  • Contribute to research projects and publications aimed at advancing understanding of groundwater systems and improving management strategies.
  • Explore innovative approaches, such as artificial recharge and groundwater banking, to enhance water resource resilience and sustainability.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, Earth Sciences, Environmental Engineering, or related field. Advanced degrees (Master's or Ph.D.) are preferred for senior positions and research roles.
  • At least 3-4 years of related experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of hydrogeological principles, including groundwater flow, aquifer properties, and contaminant transport.
  • Proficiency in field techniques such as borehole logging, well installation, and aquifer testing.
  • Experience with hydrogeological modeling software (e.g., MODFLOW, FEFLOW, MT3DMS) and GIS tools.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail for interpreting complex data sets.
  • Effective communication skills for presenting technical information to diverse audiences and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations, water resource management practices, and industry standards.
