Baker

Pinkerton's is a new bakery opening in the historic upstate city Kingston, NY by James Beard award winning pastry chef Angela Pinkerton. Chef Angela has spent the past twenty five years driving bakery and fine dining restaurant pastry programs in San Francisco (Che Fico, Craftsman & Wolves, Pie Society), New York City (Eleven Madison Park) and the DC area (Ritz Carlton).

Our menu will feature a wide range of nostalgic desserts, morning pastries, and sweet/savory cakes and pies, as well as a small menu of breakfast, and lunch items. Always baking from scratch, and using local seasonal ingredients, there will be a something for everyone, including gluten-free, and vegan options.

We are now hiring for our opening baker team to work side by side Chef, positions starting in September, 2024:

Senior baker; 3+ years general baking experience and lamination experience required, 40 hrs/week

Baker/Cooks; one plus years experience needed, 32 – 40 hrs/week

Pay ranges $ 17-25/hr based on experience, plus tips.

Responsibilities including but are not exclusive of: mixing and baking morning breakfast pastries, breads, cakes, pies, cookies, ect., dough lamination, assembling sandwiches, preparing custards, fillings, meringues, stocks and jams, tempering chocolate, cleaning and prepping meat, fruit and vegetables, finishing and garnishing pastries, icing and slicing cakes, pies, as well as cleaning, tracking product and organizing your workspace.

You will be executing existing recipes, once the basic recipes have been mastered you work closely with Chef Angela, and will play a role in team product development and recipe testing. A small but important part of the position may include serving customers and aiding the counter service team, when needed. Shifts are generally 8 hours. There will be times during the year where overtime is needed, mostly holidays, perhaps weekends. Candidates must have solid personal presentation, interpersonal and communication skills.

Able to work well under time constraint, while maintaining high standards, and attention to detail.

Must be able to lift up to 50 lb and stand for a minimum of 8 hours.

Ability to drive/bike to Kingston, NY

Available for early, mid and/or late morning shifts, and weekend shifts.

Be on time and ready to start at your scheduled time.
