The purpose of this position is:

  • To training other techs to maintain and upgrade plastics processing equipment including extruders, injection molding machines, material handling equipment, high speed assembly, and packaging equipment.
  • Performs in-depth mechanical and electrical troubleshooting to determine root cause of issues.
  • Completes job changes as needed to meet production requirements.
  • Assists operators to reach maximum level of line performance.

Education and Experience:

  • HS Diploma
  • Able to work from detailed drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Basic computer skills (email)
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • Proficient in the use/operation of conventional machine tools and measuring equipment
  • Demonstrates initiative and requires little or no direct supervision.
  • Demonstrates continuous improvement efforts to achieve improved product quality, reduced cycle time, or increased equipment reliability.

This position includes significant duties such as:

  • Setup and maintain extruders, molding machines/auxiliary equipment, high speed assemblers, and packaging equipment to meet production quality and quantity requirements.
  • Monitors and documents processes and makes appropriate adjustments to variables in order to insure production quality and quantity requirements
  • Performs in-depth mechanical and electrical troubleshooting to determine root cause of an issue.
  • Implement solution to address root cause.
  • Complete job changes on extruders, molding machines/auxiliary equipment, high speed assembly equipment, and packaging lines.
  • Performs daily on-going functions such as loading paper & film on paper/poly lines, monitoring ink levels on paper/poly lines, checking on resin material feed bins.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
  • Perform mold cleanings (within press) as required.
  • Document equipment issues via Tabware.
  • Use of PI data to determine trends in equipment performance.
  • Recommend improvements to process and/or equipment that enhance the manufacturing performance of the department.
  • Assumes other responsibilities and performs miscellaneous duties to support department and plant operations.
  • Maintains good housekeeping conditions in working area, complies with all safety expectations, and observes safe work practices.
  • Will be used as a trainer, and will assist others in training.
  • Communicate with previous & next shift to share issues and resolutions.
  • May perform other duties as needed.

  • Hours are typically daylight first shift, but flexibility to support 24/7 operations may be necessary.

The range for this position is ​$28.00 hourly rate - $33.40 hourly rate. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
