Job Summary

Garage Mechanic repairs automotive as well as heavy duty gas and diesel plant and quarry mobile equipment, ranging from rigid frame haul trucks to loaders, dozers, sweepers skid steers, trucks and carts. All functions are performed while exhibiting and championing safe work and environmental compliance practices. This position reports to the Garage Supervisor.

Compensation

This is a full-time hourly position, Monday through Friday, 7am to 3:30pm, some overtime may be required as needed and may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Pay rate is $ $39.14 per hour.

Perform work on ignition systems, fuel systems, fuel pumps, injectors, hydraulic systems, lighting systems, electrical systems, radio systems, and ABS brake systems; adjusts brakes, and aligns wheels. Disassembles and overhauls engines, transmissions, clutches, rear ends, and other assemblies on diesel/gasoline motorized equipment, replacing worn or broken parts.Performs welding, brazing, cutting or fabricating on engine powered equipment or components.Maintains air conditioning units on all mobile equipment.Maintains service, repair and maintenance records.Communicate status of downed vehicles to Garage Supervisor.Makes emergency field repairs to all equipment in a safe and efficient manner.Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition.Performs functions of a Garage Helper as necessary.Performs clean up in all areas of the facility.Other duties as assigned.EducationHigh School Diploma or GED required. Associates degree or technical/vocational school in diesel technology or related apprentice program certificate required.Mechanics Certifications preferredRequirements/Qualifications5 years of related work experience required, with at least 3 years of experience in heavy duty equipment maintenance. .
