Overview

River Bend Administration is seeking a skilled, highly motivated, and experienced individual to join the team as Trust Officer.River Bend's Trust Officer will oversee and manage a variety of trusts for a private family trust company serving the trust administration needs of a single, multi-generational family. In this role, the individual will be responsible for trust administration, supervising trust administrators and assisting in estate planning as requested.

The ideal candidate will have substantial subject matter expertise and be able to work collaboratively todeliver timely and accurate trust administration and world-class service. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to direct new and existing trusts with varying degrees of complexity and to collaborate with the River Bend team and affiliated entities' staffs.

Responsibilities

Provide accurate and comprehensive trust administration for family trust company clients by:

  • Managing the Trust Administration process by working with Trust Administrators and service partners to ensure accurate operations including managing trust acceptance, trust onboarding with review and approval of account opening and intake forms, annual trust review process, and trust termination in compliance with company policies and applicable laws (including Know-Your-Customer and Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering policies), and ensuring compliance with all notification and reporting requirements to qualified beneficiaries
  • Act as approver for time sensitive investment operations transactions involving both internal and external platforms
  • Together with Trust Administrators overseeing internal SharePoint Trust Administration content management site to ensure that all trustee actions are properly authorized and efficiently documented according to governing documents, company policies and procedures, and applicable laws
  • Reviewing and approving annual fiduciary accountings including review of principal and income issues and recognizing fiduciary risk issues and seeking appropriate resolution
  • Developing and maintaining expert knowledge of governing documents and related instruments and sharing knowledge with Trust Administrators and other team members through supervising and mentoring as appropriate
  • Preparing and updating estate planning presentations, including summaries and projections, in collaboration with River Bend team and family client advisory teams
  • As requested, reviewing drafts, or drafting documents including, but not limited to, trust administration, correspondence, trusts, consents, agreements, assignments, trustee succession instruments, notices, promissory notes, and other miscellaneous documents


Qualifications

Qualifications required for your success

  • JD from a reputable law school
  • Florida bar admission or willingness to secure admission
  • 10+ years of experience representing or working with ultra-high net worth individuals or families and their family offices (with private trust company familiarity a plus)
  • Excellent communication skills, presence, poise, and ability to inspire confidence, deliver advice, and develop relationships with ecosystem colleagues
  • Collaborative and trustworthy, and able to keep highly sensitive information confidential
  • Able to independently structure and manage workflow and priorities

Additional characteristics and attributes:

  • Exhibits knowledge of fiduciary duties and applicable laws, including trust law, estate planning techniques and prudent investment principles. Experience administering and/or operating a commercial or private family trust company preferred
  • A proactive, flexible, and adaptive individual with a "roll up your sleeves" approach and mentality
  • Demonstrated success coordinating or managing a team
