Summary

This position is located at one of the various Indian Health Service Hospitals or Clinics under the Navajo Area Office. The primary purpose is to provide medical care and public health services in schools, clinics, job sites & communities. Provide direct psychiatric clinical services to a wide age range of patients including but not limited to individual, family & couple psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy, evaluation services, group therapy, behavior therapy & child & adolescent therapies.



Duties
  • Provide direct psychiatric clinical services to a wide range of patients of all age groups in individual, family and couple psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy, evaluation services to courts, state, tribal and social services entities, group therapy, behavior therapy and child and adolescent therapies
  • Serves as a resource for the hospital and department in development and training of staff in modern mental health care, issues, and concepts
  • Treat chronic mental illness and responsible for case management and rehabilitation of patients
  • Ensure mental health modalities and intervention are within the norms of standardized psychiatric care, individual's personal and cultural value system
  • Coordinates the development of standards of care, and monitors compliance with standards for prevalent conditions with the Service Unit; i.e., substance abuse, depression, etc.
