BSA/AML Analyst

Classification: Non-Exempt

Reports to: BSA/AML/OFAC Officer

Summary/Objective

The BSA/AML Analyst is responsible for ensuring regulatory required transactions are identified, assessed and reported upon and/or referred to appropriate parties within regulatory time frames. This individual assists the Bank's BSA/AML Officer as directed. Additionally, this individual will interact with bank and branch staff to ensure compliance with the Bank's BSA/AML Compliance Program.

Primary Functions

  1. Maintain the Bank's Customers Identification Program
    • Review account opening reports
    • maintain a database of missing information
  2. Maintain the Bank's Monetary Instrument Sales program
    • Quality control reviews of all $3,000 and Up Monetary Instrument Sales forms
    • Track monetary instrument sales and report monthly for any suspicious activity
  3. Conduct Exceeds Declared Behavior and Exceeds Behavior Profile reviews for suspicious activity.
  4. Conduct Suspicious Activity reviews.
    • Perform independent analysis of alerts involving suspicious activity including, but not limited to, structuring and fraud.
    • Review transaction patterns, activities and behaviors and analyze alerts against customer profiles.
    • Ensure timely resolution of alerts by providing final supporting documentation and rationale to file or not to file a Suspicious Activity Report (SAR).
    • Prepare and present SARs on suspect transaction for review by the Bank's SAR Committee.
  5. Assist in the support and maintenance of the system-wide and New Employee BSA training program.

Secondary Functions

  1. Provide support in the collection of any requested information for audits or exams.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and fax machines.

Physical Demands

  1. Prolonged periods working at a desk

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Travel

Minimal travel is expected for this position.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills

  1. High school graduate or GED.
  2. Proficiency in computer applications.
  3. Working knowledge of BSA/AML regulation.
  4. General knowledge of banking operations.
  5. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  6. High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  7. Ability to problem solve and recommend solution.
  8. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  9. Must be able to work independently, prioritize assignments, and organize concurrent responsibilities.
  10. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle delicate circumstances professionally.

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Post High School Education or related experience.
