The work schedule is a rotating 2-week schedule and will be:

Week 1: Monday/Tuesday & Friday/Saturday/Sunday, 2:30 pm - 3:00 am

Week 2: Wednesday/Thursday, 2:30 pm - 3:00 am

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls and report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Lab Science, Medical Lab Science or equivalent is required
  • Tennessee state Medical Technologist license is a plus
  • Previous experience as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician is preferred
  • ASCP or AMT certification is preferred
  • High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen

FLU - New Team Members will be required to present proof of influenza immunization or will be given the influenza vaccine during the pre-employment screening by Occupational Medicine or during hospital orientation between September 1 and March 31. Dates may be extended based upon community flu burden. New Team Members employed outside of months when influenza vaccine is available will be informed of the policy and will be expected to comply with vaccination the next influenza season.
