Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.



Duties

How applicants will be referred:

This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until September 30, 2024. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications and subsequent cut-off dates are on the 1st of each month. Eligible applications received after that date will be referred at regular intervals or as additional vacancies occur on an as-needed basis until positions are filled.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

Major Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) will often work 8-hour shifts during business hours but will not work less than 80 hours during a two-week pay period. However, there are multiple tours available based on clinic need, including compressed tours. Additional hours will usually be needed outside of shifts to provide Veteran's care.

  • Holds as the senior medical administrative and clinical position in the clinic.
  • Responsible for activities related to the delivery of medical care in the PACT model and clinical services such as routine medical peer review, quality improvement and veteran experience. Discusses complex issues with the Regional Director and Assistant Chief, PCSL to effect resolution.
  • Oversees the activities of the clinic group physicians and clinicians, including assisting in certain staff selections and directing clinic orientation processes for new staff.
  • Reports directly to the Regional Director who is the responsible immediate supervisor, and ultimately the the Chief of Primary Care.
  • Creates cohesive collaborative relationships with managerial staff, including weekly brief meetings with RN Manager and MSA Supervisor and other disciplines.
  • Physician may be on rotation to do extended hours once per month or less.
Oher Significant Responsibilities:
  • Academic/Teaching/Training opportunities are available at several clinics with residents and/or medical students.
  • Participation in Peer Review process.
  • Acts as surrogate for patients of colleagues, when one or more of their colleagues are on leave.
  • Other duties assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm.
