Principal Software Development Engineer, AdTech

Expedia's Media Solutions AdTech group is looking for a seasoned Principal Software Development Engineer to envision, drive, and deliver our next-generation advertising marketplace. What you'll do:

Lead the design and development of highly scalable and efficient auction systems, ensuring optimal performance and low-latency response times

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and specifications for auction-related features

Develop and optimize algorithms for bidding strategies, pricing models, and real-time decision-making in advertising auctions

Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in auction dynamics, incorporating innovative approaches into our platform

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence

Drive code reviews, architectural discussions, and ensure the adoption of best practices in software engineering

Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions

Identify and address performance bottlenecks in the auction systems, optimizing code and infrastructure for maximum efficiency

Design and lead data-driven approaches to proactively identify issues and enhance system reliability

Who you are:

Minimum of 10 years of professional software engineering experience, with a focus on advertising technology and auction systems

Proven experience designing and implementing scalable, high-performance auction systems

Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Java or C ++, with a solid understanding of software design principles

In-depth knowledge of advertising technologies, including real-time bidding, Open RTB, ad exchanges, and programmatic advertising

Experience with data-driven decision-making, machine learning, and analytics in the context of advertising technology

Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Master's/Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; or Equivalent related professional experience

The total cash range for this position in Chicago is $202,500 to $283,500. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $324,000, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $221,000.00 to $309, Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $353,500.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
