A Brief Overview

Electrician installs, repairs, and maintains electrical equipment, electrical wiring, laboratory equipment, motors, heating devices, and other hospital electrical apparatus.

What you will do

  • Perform maintenance and required testing on emergency power supply system
  • Installation and maintenance of electrical wiring and switch gears, fuses, lighting fixtures, heating devices, motors and other hospital electrical apparatuses. Changes existing locations and conditions, conforming to the national and local codes and with local licensing practices.
  • Installs new electrical and allied equipment; Installs new laboratory equipment upon request (i.e., incubating or sterilizing equipment). Repairs, maintains or builds special laboratory equipment.
  • Checks all lighting in and around Stanford Health Care buildings on a regular basis. Turns off systems for energy conservation.
  • Repairs such equipment as patient beds, exhaust fans, fire doors, patient call lights and pillow speaker units, intercom systems, parking lot auto gates and lights, alarm systems, etc.
  • Replaces fuses, breakers and other protective devices, while maintaining knowledge of their functions.
  • Replaces light bulbs as needed and/or makes necessary repairs on various types of electrical cords; cleans fixtures on a regular basis.

Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Experience Qualifications

  • One (1) to three (3) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience

  • Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory requirements related to areas of functional responsibility Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance and repair
  • Knowledge of fundamentals of electricity and electronics as related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment, electronic solid state devices, circuits, wiring, and equipment in industrial stations and plants.
  • Knowledge of Arc Flash Hazard procedures and NFPA 70E codes and regulations for electrical safety in the work place
  • Knowledge of Tag-out/lock-out procedures

Licenses and Certifications

  • CADL - California Drivers License - Valid And In State .

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $ $53.28 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
