RWJBarnabas Health, New Jersey's largest integrated healthcare delivery system, is seeking a Chief of Pediatric Neurosurgery for hire at RWJUH-NB & NBIMC. The ideal candidate will clinically perform neurosurgery for pediatric and adult patients while administratively providing leadership, strategy, and oversight for the Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery. Prospective applicants will also contribute to clinical and educational activities, including mentoring junior faculty and developing lab interests and acquiring funding for research.
Job Summary:
The Chief of Pediatric Neurosurgery will assist the Department Chair in strategic planning, provide oversight for operational and programmatic aspects of Pediatric Neurosurgery, and collaborate with RWJBH Neuroscience service line leadership for innovation and integration of neurosurgical services. The role includes mentoring and developing junior faculty in accordance with RBHS Appointments and Promotions Guidelines and supporting the clinical and educational activities of the Department of Neurosurgery.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Chief of Pediatric Neurosurgery:
Assist the Department Chair in strategic planning for pediatric neurosurgical services.Provide oversight for operational and programmatic aspects with a focus on quality of surgical care and expansion of the pediatric service line.Direct professional activities and projects to ensure excellence within pediatric neurosurgery.Oversee clinical and research resources to ensure optimal use and best practices.Collaborate with RWJBH Neuroscience service line leadership for innovation and integration of neurosurgical services.Mentor and develop junior faculty in accordance with RBHS Appointments and Promotions Guidelines.Support the clinical and educational activities of the Department of Neurosurgery.Neurosurgeon:- Demonstrates factual knowledge and technical skills in preoperative, operative, and postoperative care of patients, including critical care, with neurosurgical conditions.
- Demonstrates knowledge and experience in evolving surgical techniques, such as endovascular procedures.
- Maintains compliance with applicable State, Federal, UNOS, CMS, and Joint Commission laws, rules, and regulations, and creates policies and procedures for compliance.
- Surgically evaluates and treats patients requiring neurosurgical services.
- Actively participates in the Department's physician on-call schedule.
- Rounds daily on patients in accordance with best practices.Candidate Requirements:
- MD, MD/PhD, or related degree
- Board certified or eligible
- Preference given to fellowship-trained candidates
