Physical Requirements
Lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects up to and over 50lbs; Standing or walking with objects up to 25lbs; Working at heights above 4 feet; Confined spaces; Loud noises; Temperature extremes; Hazardous chemicals, fumes, including waste; May be subject to outdoor working conditions; Ditches; and Trenches.
Performs physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs, and movement of the whole body, such as required in climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
Ability to work off ladders.
Shift
7:30 am – 4:15 pm; (Monday – Friday).
Hours of work may vary dependent upon situational factors and emergencies requiring night(s), weekend(s), and holiday(s) response.
May be assigned as on-call and required to report to work as needed.
Job Summary
As a member of the Facilities Maintenance – Area Central Team, the Master Plumber:
performs installations, maintenance, and repairs in UK Campus facilities applicable to projects, plumbing systems, and plumbing equipmentduring construction/renovation, designs and installs gas, water, steam, and sanitary fixtures and equipment with their supports, hangers, or foundationstests new equipment and systems by allowing water to flow throughassesses projects and gathers necessary permitsimplements design and oversees preparation and installation of plumbing components and fixtures, including toilets, urinals, faucets, hose bibs, drains, etc.runs pipingpulls and mounts equipmentinstalls, maintains, repairs and replaces domestic hot and cold water linessteam to hot water exchangers for major building heating systems and poolspneumatic steam valves, radiator valves, traps, and steam and condensate pipesrepairs and replaces domestic hot water heat pumps, chilled water pumps, sump pumps, and sewage pumpsinstalls, tests, and repairs all sizes of backflow prevention devicesterminates water and sewer circuitsstarts up and checks out equipmentrepairs, replaces, and/or maintains older, pre-existing plumbing systems and equipmentleads others in troubleshooting efforts and repairsdiagnoses problems and applies critical thinking in the process of repairing or remedying the issue(s)analyzes and solves problems with various plumbing; steam, water, and gas distribution systemsinterprets schematics, prints, and oral instructions for plumbing applicationscreates or provides plans for subcontractor workinterprets plumbing and mechanical situations to determine process failure, process need, and process improvementresearches catalogs and vendor services for complex and/or customized system retrofitsperforms preventative maintenance in accordance with methods and procedures to eliminate operating problems and improve outcomesin coordination with supervision, provides technical guidance and training, and tracks corrective and preventative maintenance tasks assigned to apprentices and journeymen plumbers

Preferred Education/Experience
High School / GED + 7 Years
Associate's Degree / Technical Diploma + 5 Years — Preferred.
Minimum of five years' experience in performing the full range of tasks associate with the repair, replacement, or construction of piping systems in the plumbing trade; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Driver's license preferred.
