Employment Type:Full timeShift:Day ShiftDescription:The Coordinator will work with patients and their families beginning with the evaluation for transplantation and continuing through and after transplantation, in a compassionate and tactful manner in order to help facilitate access to and provide continuity of care.

Obtaining detailed patient insurance benefit information for all aspects of the transplant process, including, but not limited to, outpatient prescription drugs, organ acquisition, follow-up clinic visits, and travel and housing if necessary.

The Counselor will also work with other members of the transplant team, insurers and administrative personnel at the Transplant Center.

Serves as a knowledgeable resource for other transplant staff regarding insurance issues.

Maintain and increases knowledge of Governmental insurance industry coverage and requirements through constant policy changes in relation to organ transplantation.

Will seek maximum reimbursement by contacting Provider Contracting to initiate a letter of agreement process.

Advise transplant coordinators, transplant surgeons, administration, Patient Financial Service, Managed Care and others as appropriate regarding coverage and billing issues affecting transplant.

The Transplant Financial Coordinators will be in contact with the PCP, Dialysis Center, Nephrology and anyone else to expedite the information the insurance company needs in order to approve the work up services.

Provides financial counseling and education to transplant patients and families regarding their specific insurance coverage, deductible, copayment, and required deposits.

Maintains communication with transplant patients on the waiting list in order to verify and document ongoing insurance coverage and any benefit changes during the waiting period.

Serves as patient liaison/advocate to assure patients ease in all transplant related insurance matters during the patient relationship with the Transplant Program.

Attend Clinic, MRB and Education programs to provide insightful input on the financial impact of patients care.
