This internship will start on June 12th, 2024 through August 21st, 2023 with flexibility on end date.

The Diversity Recruitment & Retention Intern will work as member of the Diversity Recruitment & Retention team and will assist with diversity recruitment and retention events, projects and initiatives that focus on recruiting and retaining diverse talent for DHS. The Diversity Recruitment & Retention Intern will support the DEI Program Lead with coordinating career fairs and events, assisting with developing the monthly diversity newsletter, supporting the social media branding and marketing of DHS to recruit and retain diverse talent, and assisting with maintaining the resume pipeline database of diverse talent. The Diversity Recruitment & Retention Intern will also assist the Diversity Talent Coordinator with planning, coordinating and implementing engagement events and activities for the summer interns. This includes planning activities and events for interns in the agency's internship and fellowship programs, and assisting as needed with recruitment and retention projects.

Internship Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Assist with planning and coordinating diversity recruitment events and career fairs
  • Update candidates information in the sourcing tracker document and source candidates from this tracker
  • Assist with planning and coordinating engagement activities for the summer interns
  • Assist with the creation of the Diversity Scoop newsletter
  • Search and contact potential diverse candidates via online social networking such as Facebook, LinkedIn, , and
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate, four-year degree in Human Resources, Business or related field
  • Must be in academic years of sophomore, junior, senior, or be attaining diploma by May 2023
  • Have demonstrated significant experience with Outlook and Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Have acute attention to detail/accuracy and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to work well without direct supervision
  • Possess excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Demonstrate effective oral communication and active listening skills and are comfortable interacting with a variety of individuals via various methods (in-person, phone, email)
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 years of advanced administrative support, paraprofessional, or technical expertise in Human Resources
  • Strong communications skills
  • Planning and coordination skills
  • Interest, passion and commitment to diversity recruitment and retention
Additional Requirements
  • Must provide unofficial transcript to show proof of school enrollment
  • Must be willing to reside in Minnesota for the duration of internship
  • Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) criminal background check will be conducted on all finalists for this position. Finalists must pass the DHS background check.
