JOB BRIEF

The main role of the Customer Checker is to efficiently handle customers' purchases by accurately recording sales, collecting payments, and ensuring a positive customer service experience.

JOB DUTIES
  • Welcome, assist, and show appreciation to customers in a prompt, courteous, and friendly manner.
  • Handle customer transactions using a scanner or keyboard.
  • Aid customers in unloading their cart onto the conveyor belt.
  • Weigh specific items.
  • Input product codes for items that do not scan or require codes.
  • Identify products from different departments.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the checkout area.
  • Ensure work area is free from safety hazards and report any issues to management.
  • Manage cash back transactions and ensure correct change is given.
  • Complete necessary paperwork for opening and closing procedures.
  • Handle money exchanges for pickups.
  • Secure change proactively.
  • Bag groceries for customers as necessary.
  • Proficient in all payment forms including food stamps, credit cards, checks, and cash.
  • Communicate verbally with customers and colleagues regarding products, prices, and payments.
  • Address customer complaints professionally and involve the appropriate personnel for conflict resolution.
  • Understand procedures for assisting customers with refunds, returns, or exchanges.
  • discreetly report items needing attention to managers.
  • Deal with multiple customers in a courteous manner.
