Guy Carpenter's global Life and Annuities Reinsurance team helps our clients deliver on growth and changing risk strategies. Working with GC Securities and GC Strategic Advisory colleagues, we provide clients solutions for divesting and monetizing underperforming and non-core businesses, increasing capital efficiency and supporting new growth opportunities.

The Life and Annuities Reinsurance team is seeking candidates for the following position to be located in the New York or Chicago office.

What to expect:

  • You will be a junior Life & Annuities reinsurance broker and join our growing team and support additional origination, deal management and transaction execution for Guy Carpenter's Global Risk Solutions.
  • You will support with marketing materials, financial modelling, client presentations, managing the NDA process and developing/organizing client file directory.
  • As part of the wider sales unit you will contribute to the team through market research and segmentation, originating opportunities through benchmarking and trend analysis.
  • You will work collaboratively, both within the Global Risk Solutions and with various functions and subject matter experts within Guy Carpenter/Oliver Wyman/Marsh/Mercer across the United States, Canada, Latin America and indeed, globally.
  • You will interact regularly with clients.

We will rely on you for:

  • Some life re/insurance experience and practical knowledge of US GAAP and Statutory accounting (concentrating on recent PBR changes).
  • Providing analysis and benchmarking of statutory filings, equity research reports and other publicly available financial statements in order to assist the team in originating and developing solutions for clients' needs
  • Managing the Life & Annuities team pipeline through GC Force (Salesforce CRM)
  • Responsible for generating and developing the client file directory and managing access, content, file structure and naming conventions in order to maximize efficiency and 'best practices' sharing
  • Supporting manager/team with front line client servicing (supply of market information, negotiating amendments/improvements to cover, facilitating client/reinsurer meetings etc.)
  • Arranging non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) ensuring full sign off and legal compliance internally and externally
  • Actively participating in new business reinsurance transactions assisting with everything from origination to completion

What you need to have:

  • 3-5 years' experience in Life & Annuities re/insurance, broking or consulting
  • Understanding of overall Americas re/insurance markets, with focus on US
  • Ability to prioritize, work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Strong initiative and work ethic with an eagerness to drive projects to a successful completion
  • A willingness to deal with international clients and markets
  • Additional language preferred (Spanish, Portuguese) but not required

The applicable base salary range for this role is $90,000 to $140,000.
The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
