Job DescriptionSummary

Under the directsupervision of a Registered Pharmacist, Supervisor, and/or Directorof Pharmacy Services, performs a wide variety of Pharmacy duties tomeet the needs for patients in the hospital. Pharmacy Technicianduties include filling routine drug orders for unit dosemedications, refilling medications in Pharmacy Automated DispensingCabinets, performing Non-Sterile and Sterile Compounding . Otherduties include repackaging of medication into unit dose barcodedpackages, replenishes code carts drug supply and performs inventoryduties for the Central Pharmacyoperation.

JobDescription

ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS

1 - Performs all duties andresponsibilities for to Central Pharmacy Medication Dispensingwhich includes Carousel functionality, inventory adjustments,expiration date tracking and demand picks of floor stockmedication. Performs monthly outdate checks of PharmacyInventory as assigned by the Supervisor orManager.

2 -Performs all duties and responsibilities for Automative DispensingMachine (ADM) to include Omnicell functionality with Batch fillingand patient specific bin restocks. Demonstrate proficiency inother tasks such as Outdating, Transfers, and Modifyingpockets.

3 - Perform allduties and responsibilities for Extemporaneous Non-SterileCompounding and Oral Syringe preparation. Able to demonstrateappropriate labeling, expiration dating, and logging of compoundsin the electronic or paper logs when appropriate.

4 - Perform all duties andresponsibilities for medication repackaging to include operation ofthe automated Unit Dose packer (Eucilid) and manual packaging ofChemotherapy/Hazardous medication. Must be proficient with otherrepackaging tasks such as making kits and barcodelabeling.

5 -Performs all duties and responsibilities for Code Cart exchange,Code Cart Trays, and TransportBoxes.

6 - Performs all dutiesand responsibilities for Non-Sterile Hazardous Drugcompounding. Passes yearly competency showing proficiency inhazardous room procedures which include gowning, compounding andcleaning of the Biological Safety cabinet. Must be proficientenough to train and educate new technicians and students in thisarea. Must show proficiency in monthly cleaningbreakdown of the biological safetycabinet.

7 -Performs all duties and responsibilities for Sterile Productsproduction if trained in that area. Performs requiredcleanings and restocking when required. Passes yearlycompetency showing proficiency in clean room procedures and sterileproduct preparation. Fully understands concepts of gowning, handwashing and cleaning of all areas. Able to demonstrate timelyrecording of tasks required in electronic signature logs whichinclude cleaning logs, temperature logs and humidity logs in the IVroom.

8 - Performsall duties and responsibilities dealing with customer service,quality assurance, inventory management, maintaining a orderly,clean and safe environment.

9- Performs anything else deemed necessary by their supervisor orPharmacist on duty (other dutiesrequired).

JOBREQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education- Preferred
High school level ofeducation.
Minimum WorkExperience
Minimum of 3 months work experienceas Pharmacy Technician preferred. Hospital pharmacy experiencedesirable.
Required Licenses/Registrations
RPT or RPI - Registered PharmacyTechnician or Registered Pharmacy Intern
Preferred (not required) Licenses/Registrations
Student enrolled in a Pharm Dprogram, with an accredited institution, is eligible forconsideration as a Technician Trainee. Third year Pharm D programstudent will be given consideration as Registered PharmacyIntern.
