San Bruno, California, United States Mill Full time

Mill is all about answering a simple question: how can we prevent waste? Less waste can save time, money, energy, maybe even our planet. And there's no better place to start than food. Food waste is one of the most solvable climate problems facing us today. Plus, our trash really stinks. It's gross, heavy, and our least favorite chore. At Mill we are striving to build a better environment for all, as we take on climate and kitchen change.

Mill is seeking a launch program manager to work with all Software teams to define and execute a unified launch process at Mill:

  • Tie together all Mobile, Data, Analytics, Internal tools, Algos and GTM SW teams at Mill, working with each workstream's PgM
  • Document expected sprint process, attend sprint retrospectives and follow up on AIs, propose process improvements
  • Ensure process is properly executed, ensure meetings are set up, metrics are re-visited, schedule release reviews, course correct teams when needed
  • Drive highly cross functional efforts, to ensure all required parties are involved appropriately and communication is managed
  • Configuring relevant tools to support effective process
  • Facilitate process led by TLs and PgMs, follow through on AIs, conduct retrospectives, and feed learnings back into process improvements
  • Release process: Run the release sign off process, including mini bug reviews before a release sign off

Cross functional comms:

  • Wrangle weekly roundup report for each workstream
  • Own high level release roadmap, in easily consumable visual form, for each workstream.
  • High level company roadmaps, including Ops, Marketing, HW in addition to SW workstreams.
  • Manage the SWQA testing schedule, reacting to release delays, re-spins, and bugs
  • Cross functional communication of status of releases, handling delayed/early features, release dates, risks
  • Coordinate cross functional features (e.g. Embedded firmware + Cloud + Mobile), timing of releases, ensuring coordination of technical checklists/tickets, comms + customer support communication

Qualifications

  • B.S. or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of program management, software engineering program management, or systems engineering program management.
  • Experience with the development and delivery of large cross-functional efforts, ideally in start-up environments.
  • Experience with end to end cycle of software development from concept to release. You will be working with firmware, cloud, web, and mobile app teams.
  • Experience configuring common program management tools such as Jira and Github to increase and measure team velocity.
  • Experience with consumer electronics lifecycle a plus.
  • Passion for the customer and knowledge of defining user needs, gathering requirements, and building roadmaps that balance innovation and ambition with realism.
  • Ability to operate autonomously across multiple teams, demonstrated critical thinking, proactively, and thought leadership.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience collaborating with technical management teams to improve systems, process, and products.
  • Organizational, coordination and multi-tasking experience.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills across large-scale systems.

The estimated base salary range for this position is $126k to $167k, which does not include the value of benefits or a potential equity grant. A wide range of factors are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, market conditions, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and business and organizational needs. At Mill, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
