Summary

The incumbent serves as a Diagnostic Radiologist and provides Radiologic care services at the Department of Veterans Affairs Lexington, KY Healthcare System. Incumbent provides comprehensive clinical services to Veterans and their families. Incumbent performs radiologic assessment and treatment In a multi-disciplinary setting.



Duties

This vacancy will remain open until filled.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Radiology provided diagnostic and treatment services for patients. Physicians applying for or renewing privileges are expected to have the highest level of competence within the field of Radiology, on a par with that considered appropriate for a specialist. They are qualified to act as consultants and should, in turn, request consultation from within or from outside the hospital staff whenever needed.
  • Applicants for initial appointment in Diagnostic Radiology must be able to demonstrate performance, interpretation or supervision of an adequate number of radiologic tests or procedures (as outlined in the Core Privileges chart below), reflective of the scope of privileges requested, or demonstrate successful completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited residency, clinical fellowship, or research in a clinical setting within the past 12 months. Successful completion of an appropriate review course may substitute for procedure volume or image interpretation volume.
  • Perform general diagnostic radiology to diagnose and treat diseases of patients of all ages.
  • Assess, stabilize, and determine disposition of patients with emergent conditions consistent with medical staff policy regarding emergency and consultative call services.
  • Core Procedures : Bone Denistometry, Computed tomography, diagnostic studies, excluding calcium scoring (300 exams/24 mths), CT, ultrasound, and fluoroscopy guided biopsy, drainage procedures and injections (20 procedures/most recent 12mths), Nuclear medicine diagnostic studies and associated procedures, Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) diagnostic studies (excluding cardiac). Includes the injection of contrast (150 exams/24 mths), Routine imaging, e.g. interpretation of plain films (600 exams/24 mths), Spinal punctures, lumbar and injection, Ultrasound (organ-based and vascular) (50 exams/24 mths), Coronary calcium scoring, Fluoroscopy, IVP, nephrostogram, upper GI, similar studies, administration of contrast, and non-vascular procedures such as NG tube placement under fluoroscopy.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
