The Division of Audiology at Penn Medicine is offering a 12-month 4th-year Doctor of Audiology externship position.

We are a fast-paced clinic within a medical setting, primarily serving an adult population. We offer a well-rounded externship experience with a full range of diagnostic and rehabilitative services including: amplification, implantable devices, and vestibular testing. The externship is offered at our main location at Perelman Center of Advanced Medicine. More information regarding our practice can be found at:

We seek motivated applicants who are team players with excellent communication skills, strong work ethic, and high standards of professionalism.

Most of our clinicians are either ASHA or ABA certified. Please note that ASHA certification at the completion of externship is not guaranteed as student will be working with all providers on a rotating basis.

Placement is pending the establishment of a student affiliation agreement between Penn Medicine and the respective program. Upon a candidate's acceptance of the position, the program will be required to provide a list of the year's clinical goals and objectives. The student affiliation agreement must be executed prior to the externship start date.

Per hospital policy, the extern will be required to provide the following: background check & child abuse clearance, immunization records (including flu and Covid 19 vaccine)

Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship: - basic audiologic diagnostic skills including audiometric testing, immittance, OAEs
- hearing aid fitting/check
- interpretation and management of hearing disorders
- appropriate counseling and documentation skills

While not required, previous clinical experience in the following areas are preferred:
- implantable devices
- vestibular diagnostics Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship: - build on existing clinical skills and refine patient care in diagnosis and treatment
- gain exposure to medical audiology
