Pediatric Audiologist

The nonprofit Tucker Maxon School is seeking a half to fulltime (.75 FTE idea) Pediatric Audiologist to start at the end of August 2024.
We are looking for a skilled and professional individual to be part of our team.The Audiologist will work with approximately 25 children (ages birth to 12 years) who are deaf or hard of hearing daily for about 9.5 months per year and will have most of the summer off The Audiologist will also work with alumni, and sometimes the public with clients up to age 26 (often through insurance).
This position is Exempt and reports to the school Principal.

Qualifications
Doctorate in Audiology (AuD), with emphasis or training/experience in pediatrics
Audiologist License, State of Oregon (as soon as possible)
Experience programming hearing aids, bone-anchored hearing aids (BAHAs), and cochlear implants with
the pediatric population preferred
Experience performing diagnostic auditory brainstem response (ABR) testing preferred, but not required
Experience working in an educational setting preferred
Credentialed to bill most major Oregon health insurance companies (within first 6 months)
High standards of professional competence (continuing education, code of ethics)
Experience or familiarity with some ASL (American Sign Language) preferred, but not required
Roles and Responsibilities
Provide a high standard of audiological service that includes: audiological assessment on a regular basis,
daily listening checks, and daily check of amplification/RM systems
Fit and manage appropriate RM equipment, including transmitters (i.e., Roger Touchscreens, Pass-Around Mic, etc.) and receivers (Roger X, Roger 20, etc.)
Troubleshoot devices and school-owned RM equipment and maintain various loaner amplification/cochlear implant devices to ensure access to the full curriculum at all times
Participate in comprehensive IFSP/IEP evaluations for students 1-2 times per year, which may include
diagnostic evaluation, device programming, and age-appropriate speech testing
Collaborate with our Deaf and Hard of Hearing (D/HH) Education team (Teacher of the Deaf, Speech
Therapist, Early Intervention Specialist, classroom teachers) to write annual IFSP/IEP goals and
document progress toward goals for each student 1-2 times per year per student
Collaborate with MECP/Columbia Regional Program on shared students in our Preschool for All program,
for shared evaluation and care
Attend IFSP/IEP meetings and discuss results of assessment, progress, and future goals with families
Provide training opportunities on new technology for staff, students, and families as part of the school's
commitment to best practices
Screen hearing of all students annually
Submit a brief monthly report to the Executive Director to include in a summary report to the Board
Communicate effectively with related professionals, families and school staff (cochlear implant team,
child's managing audiologist, mainstream school placement) to ensure best outcomes for children
Provide services for alumni and community members, which may include newborn hearing screening,
diagnostic ABRs, hearing aid and cochlear implant evaluations and fittings, and earmold
fittings/modifications
Report relevant information to the Oregon EHDI program as appropriate
Work with outsourced billing service to bill health insurance companies for clinical services (when
appropriate)
Demonstrate unconditional respect for children and their well-being without regard to race, religion,
socioeconomic, gender and physical limitations in policies, actions and interactions
Honor every family's right to privacy and confidentiality in all communications and record keeping, and
respect authorized parents/family's right to access their child's records
Participate in all required staff meetings, in-service sessions, conferences, and special events

Compensation:
$67,705 for full time (if 40 hours/week) for 39 school weeks per year (13 weeks off, with 10 weeks in summer, 2 weeks in December, and 1 week in March), DOE, (this is the equivalent of $45.75 per hour or $95,160 for full year) plus excellent benefits for employees at .5 FTE or more, including health, dental, optional vision, OR Paid Family and Medical Leave insurance, long-term disability, retirement and life insurance. The typical day is 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a working lunch, with flexibility to start and end days earlier.
