POSITION TITLE Molder Level 1-3 (Tool Setters)

DEPARTMENT Manufacturing Operations

POSITION SUMMARY

Supports operations by prestaging, preheating, installing, and removing molds from thermoplastic injection molding machines and blow molding machines. Trouble shoots general mold issues including tie back installations, water lines, hydraulics, electrical connections, pneumatics and auxiliary equipment. Build, repair, and install structural foam injection nozzles.

QUALIFICATIONS

· Must have strong general mechanical skills which include a basic knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and thermodynamics.

· Must have basic electrical knowledge.

· Must have normal color vision.

· Must have good communication skills.

· Must have forklift and overhead crane experience.

· Must have mechanical knowledge and ability to work with manual and power tools.

· Will be required to complete Lock Out Tag Out training.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to)

· Responsible for mold changes & auxiliary/set-up functions in assigned areas.

· Knowledge of the injection molding process and the properties of the material processed.

· Load and position tools into presses and perform changeovers.

· Store and clean molds/tooling properly.

· Must have mold and machine maintenance skills.

· Crane and forklift operation skills.

· Inspect molds/tooling for defects.

· Based on the schedule, set up all job orders and perform mold changes.

· Setup secondary equipment such as heat controllers, water temperature controllers, and chillers.

· Perform preventive maintenance on molds before removing and place molds in correct locations.

· Responsible for maintenance and cleaning of machines in relation to mold changes.

· Complete change over sheets after completion of each mold change. /Maintain any necessary documentation.

· Responsible for meeting tight deadlines.

· Organize and prioritize to meet goals.

· Strong attention to detail.

· Must be able to work the assigned overtime to cover functions of this position as assigned.

· Must be able to work safely and always consider the safety of others in the workplace.

· Must ensure that all personnel involved in the actual machine setup are following the company Lock Out Tag Out program.

· Responsible for housekeeping of the work area.

· Must be able to stand, stoop, climb, and bend frequently during work shift.

· Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.

· Employees are frequently exposed to extreme temperatures, noise, dust, and chemicals.

· Strong mechanical abilities.

· Perform other related duties as assigned.

· Must provide quality workmanship during installation and removal of plastic manufacturing molds with constant attention to industrial safety, productivity, and housekeeping.

· Must be able to perform Pre-mold change checklist, keep Auxiliary equipment and Tool setter areas clean.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel, or crawl. Employee is frequently exposed to extreme temperatures in warehouse environment. Occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions. Frequently exposed to conditions typically found in a manufacturing plant: noise, dust, heat, and chemicals.
