Aircraft Worker

This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Aviation Logistics Center (ALC), Long Range Surveillance Product Line (LRS), Elizabeth City, North Carolina.

This position's primary purpose is to perform aircraft mechanic journey level work.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.

Typical work assignments include:

WG-08

• Removing major components of aircraft structure or systems; disassembling major components for transfer to various specialty shops and assisting in configuration changes, refuel/defuel, and towing
• Performing repairs of limited complexity such as removing and replacing worn or damaged gaskets, pneudraulic lines and couplings, fuel cells, cables, and pulleys.
• Installing, aligning, and adjusting less complex aircraft systems, subsystems, assemblies and components such as ejection seats, nuclear shielding, or similar self-contained systems that have few adjustments and little interaction with other systems.

WG-10

• Repairing and adjusting a variety of aircraft mechanical systems, components, and assemblies.
• Tracing and locating defects and determining the type and extent of repair/adjustments needed.
• Installing and checking systems, components, and assemblies.
• Disassembling, troubleshooting, and functionally testing, calibrating, and maintaining a variety of components, assemblies and equipment.
• Running engines and auxiliary power units.
• Conducting fuel/defuel operations.
• Participating in moving aircraft.
