Coaction is seeking an experienced Assistant Vice President, Ceded Reinsurance within the HO-UW department. The AVP, Ceded Reinsurance will serve as a key member of Coaction's Home Office Underwriting team responsible for execution of treaty placements and support all aspects of reinsurance placements.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for oversight and execution of successful treaty placements in support of underwriting operations
  • Support all aspects of the reinsurance placement process, including reinsurer review (approval status), data compilation and validation for the submission, submission review, attendance at broker/reinsurer calls, assisting in the follow-up for additional information, scheduling follow-up meetings, securing and obtaining execution of all necessary contract documents.
  • Help analyze reinsurance pricing and structures
  • Assist in managing reinsurer queries and audits, including review of contract provisions and information presented to the reinsurers.
  • Participate in the Reinsurance Broker selection process
  • Direct and manage contract wording with reinsurance brokers, ensuring Coaction negotiates the most favorable terms possible
  • Prepare or participate in the preparation of various presentations and reports, including presentations to the Board, presentations to the Reinsurance Committee, treaty Summaries, T-Listing reports, Rating agency Questionnaires
Special Projects:
  • Engage in home office underwriting strategic projects. Projects may include assisting with collateral guidelines, developing portfolio analytics and tools to assist field underwriting efforts, assessing Coaction exposure to industry events, and risk-related guidelines affecting the insurance portfolio. Projects may be diverse in nature and lack a clear direction forward.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree mandatory; Insurance certification (e.g., CPCU, ARM, FCAS, etc.) preferred.
  • A minimum of 7 years of Reinsurance related experience, which may include positions at reinsurers, reinsurance brokerages, or within a ceded reinsurance department
  • Must have a strong command of multiple lines of business (property, casualty, professional lines, work comp, inland marine, etc.).
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Strong attention to detail and quantitative skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines and prioritize tasks
  • Ability to work with various internal constituents, including underwriting, claims, actuarial, finance, and IT departments
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability and willingness to work outside normal office hours and global travel as required
